Lab 1: Revolutionising Manufacturing and Robotics
Lab 1 within the newly opened NERIC building focuses on the dynamic intersection of manufacturing and robotics. With an emphasis on industrial applications, this cutting-edge facility is set to propel innovation and productivity in various industrial settings.
One of the key highlights of Lab 1 is the Taking Place stamp, a versatile robotic system capable of performing a wide range of tasks. From handling items and shelving them back to assembling, sorting, and packing. This automated marvel offers unparalleled precision and efficiency to any workforce. It possesses the ability to reverse the process by removing items, sorting them, and returning them to their designated shelves.

Adjacent to the Taking Place stamp is the Delta robot, designed to delicately handle objects without causing any damage. This high-speed manipulator excels in rapid sorting and moving operations, ensuring swift and accurate processing.
Within Lab 1, the CSV robotic cell emerges as a prominent feature. This advanced robot is equipped with multiple functionalities, aimed at revolutionising manufacturing processes. The CSV robotic cell represents an innovative concept that promises to reshape the industry.

Lab 2 Advancing Mobile Robotics and Collaborative Machines
Lab 2 focuses on the development and application of mobile robotics and collaborative machines. This space serves as an incubator for machines that can navigate various environments and complement human capabilities.
Lab 2 highlights the mobile robot, designed to tackle tasks in situations where mobility is crucial. These robots, equipped with wheels, excel in scenarios such as warehouse operations, where they effortlessly move boxes from one location to another or facilitate the seamless transition of shelving units.
Another standout in this lab is Spot, a highly versatile robot specifically designed to venture into hazardous and challenging environments where human presence is undesirable or risky. Spot’s mobility and adaptability can make it an ideal candidate for tasks in nuclear waste sites, war zones, active volcanoes, and other perilous locations.
Collaborative robots, known as pole box, also take centre stage in Lab 2. These machines are designed to work alongside technicians and engineers, providing assistance in various tasks. Through programming, these robots can effectively replace humans in certain aspects of their work, enhancing productivity and efficiency. Lab 3 Revolutionary Metrology Capabilities
This lab showcases a powerful tool called the Metrology Title, which serves as a versatile solution for a wide range of applications. This equipment allows for the scanning and generation of STL files, capturing intricate details and shapes of various objects. From engines to rubber doors, any item can be scanned, creating a CAD file for manufacturing, documentation, or quality control purposes.
The metrology equipment can be used in quality control. By scanning and analysing products, technicians can ensure consistency and precision in manufacturing processes. The Metrology Title enables the setting of specific parameters for QC, generating reports that highlight variations from ideal models and guiding decision-making. This invaluable tool empowers manufacturers to monitor product performance, assess tool wear, and maintain consistent quality standards.
Metrology Title proves its worth in reverse engineering and legacy part replacement. In instances where documentation is lacking or parts need to be replicated, the equipment can accurately scan, recreate components and ensure seamless integration into existing systems.
