New data from the Centre foe ageing better reveals half of adults aged over 50 in England have experienced age discrimination in the last year, key findings include;
- one in three people over the 50 believe they have been turned down a job because of their age.
- one in five employers believe that age discrimination occurs in their occurs in their organisation.
- older applicants are less likely to be hired, and once employed, less likely to receive training.
- 460,000 people aged 50 – 64 are currently out of work but would like to be in work and ageism is one of the key barriers they face.
